For two years from 2024-2025, Sarah hosted the video web series the Livros Lookout where each week she highlighted a book - across genres - written with Sephardic or Ladino themes. “Livros” is the word for books in Ladino, and the series was meant to introduce readers to the range of colorful books celebrating Sephardic culture. Click below to see the full list of books she reviewed and where you can find them!
Now she's bringing you the Livros Lookout Bookclub!
What is the Livros Lookout Bookclub?
The Livros Lookout Bookclub is an annual selection of 4 books that I have chosen for how they demonstrate the diversity of the Sephardic experience and literary creativity. In 2026 the focus will be on fiction and will take readers to Spain, Portugal, Morocco, New Mexico, Israel, and more. We'll go back to the 15th century and right up to the present day. Over virtual meetings spread out over the year, and opportunities for engagement in between, we'll engage with the authors and each other about the historical, cultural - and human - themes of each of the books.
